Montessori School - Montessori programming, according to the American Montessori Society, is a child-centered approach to learning that allows kids to follow their interests and learn through a combination of movement, collaboration and concentration.

Office of Operations

The Office of Operations of the Detroit Public Schools Community District provides essential services to support the mission of educating and empowering our students. We are committed to ensuring the District operates at its optimum capacity. Our division strives to incorporate the District’s Core Values and increase student pride in their schools through work delivered by the following departments:

Division of Business Operations - Uses best practices to ensure the Division maintains responsible stewardship to support students' success

Division of Capital Projects & Facilities – Enhances student achievement by effectively planning and managing District facilities to support learning

Division of School Nutrition – Supports the educational development of our students by providing healthy breakfast and a variety of nutritional lunch options for K-12 students at no charge

Division of Student Transportation – Offers students safe, effective transportation service to and from school

Division of Information Technology - Offers technological solutions that makes the District’s work more efficient, reliable and effective, and contributes to the Districts progress in all five strategic plan priority areas
