Welcome Back Barton Family!

On behalf of the staff at Barton Elementary School, I am elated to welcome you to the

2020-2021 school year! Yes, the return to school this year will be very different, but what will not be different is the dedication and commitment that Barton staff and I will have for your child or children’s education. This year will be different with where and how students will learn. If you chose Virtual for your child’s learning model, they will be home learning on their technology device with their teachers online. If you chose Face-2-Face for your child’s learning model your child will be at the school learning with their teachers in the classrooms.

Detroit Public Schools Community District has installed countless safety protocols for the safety of all stakeholders.  PPE will be available daily for students and staff. Classrooms are organized so that students are safely spaced 6 ft. apart. Barton students will have the same school schedule, (8:30 am – 3:40 pm), and uniform colors of yellow shirts or blouses and navy blue bottoms. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

I am honored to serve as the principal of Barton Elementary School.  I bring over 23 years of experience as an educator. I was a teacher for 18 years at numerous Detroit Public Schools and 4 years as an administrator at our neighboring school Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School.

Barton Elementary School has all certified teachers that are committed to teaching every child with a researched-based curriculum. All teachers will greet their students every morning Virtually or  F-2-F  with a full day of quality instructions. We know a strong partnership with parents will make a great difference with their child or children’s education. Please share your ideas and concerns to ensure that parent's voices are being heard at Barton Elementary School by sending me an email at rosa.adams@detroitk12.org or calling me at (313) 873-1884.

My essential goal at Barton Elementary School is to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and enjoy learning on a  daily basis.

Sincerely,

Rosa Adams
