Osborn Literacy Fair
What is a "Literacy Fair" you ask? It is a fantastic opoortunity to show-off your creative abilities and share your favorite book or author with readers throughout the county!
Ready for the details? To register or get more information, talk to your school library staff or complete the registration form linked below. The event will take place on March 11, 2017. Set up of the projects will occur from 3-5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, or 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 at the Stafford High School library. The judging will be held March 11th from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. and the public fair will run from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Like a science fair, each participant will decorate a standard tri-fold display board (36"H X 48" W) as a "storyboard" to promote their favorite book or author. Storyboards may incorporate models, shadowboxes, 3-D items, and illustrations as long as they fit within the depth and height of the tri-fold display board. Text can be typed or handwritten. Participants may dress up or hold coordinating items and should be highly knowledgeable of their book's content or their author's life and works. For safety and security, no items used in the displays can be living, valuable, or dangerous. No electrical cords may be used and no food products are allowed. No display items may hang over the table surface or be placed on the floor in front of the display. The participant's name, grade level, and book category should be cleared labeled on the back of the display board.
What are the categories? In the fiction category, you may choose a book that is dystopian, fantasy, historical, humorous, mystery/suspense, realistic fiction, or science fiction. In the non-fiction category, you may choose a book that is informational or a biography/autobiography/memoir. In the author category, you may choose either fiction or non-fiction
