Meet the 2025 Teacher of the Year Finalist-Jennifer F. Loher
With nine years of experience in education, Jennifer F. Loher has dedicated herself to shaping young minds at Burton International Academy. As a third-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, an a proud graduate of the Northern High School, she believes in creating an environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, build confidence, and embrace learning with enthusiasm.
One of Loher’s most memorable teaching moments came while working with a student who struggled with reading and needed additional support. She patiently guided him, helping him make the necessary connections to improve his skills. The true breakthrough came when, over the summer, the student reached out to her to read a book—a powerful reminder of the lasting impact a teacher can have on a student’s journey. "Moments like that are so memorable when you have a student who really wants to learn how to read."
In addition to being an educator, Loher takes great pride in her military service, which has shaped her values of discipline, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. She brings these principles into her classroom, fostering a space where every student has the chance to succeed. "As long as you create an environment for success, everyone will be successful."
Her philosophy extends beyond the classroom walls. Loher believes learning is a lifelong journey and that education should empower students to think critically and explore the world around them. "I believe all students have the ability to learn, but learning does not stop or start in the classroom."
As a finalist for the 2025 Teacher of the Year, Loher sees the honor as a reflection of her students' achievements. "Being named Educator of the Year means my students are succeeding." She remains committed to fostering an environment where students feel brave, supported, and inspired to learn.
Her dedication, passion, and belief in her students continue to shape young minds, proving that education is more than just instruction—it’s about building confidence and inspiring lifelong success.
