Communication and Media Arts High School Graduate Gets Full-Ride to GVSU
Justin McCree, the 2021 salutatorian at Communication and Media Arts High School (CMA), is headed off to Grand Valley State University (GVSU) this fall on a full-ride scholarship.
Having full spirit since joining CMA, one of six Examination High Schools in the District as a ninth grader, Justin has been a model student. He served as a CMA Ambassador, an opportunity to develop communication and networking skills. He frequently helped with recruitment opportunities, was available for media interviews, and gave tours of the school.
Academically, Justin has taken Advanced Placement classes and dual enrollment, where he has already started his college trajectory with Wayne County Community College. He is also a National Honors Society and the Principals Club member, where students have maintained academic honors. In addition, Justin is a ranking officer at CMA’s JROTC program, has been a part of the anime club, and was also involved in the robotics club. He plans to study information technology (IT) while attending GVSU.
“If you don't have anyone to look up to, look up to yourself your future self,” said Justin, recently. “Look up to the you that's going to succeed because eventually you will be that version of yourself, if you keep trying and believing.” Indeed! Congratulations Justin!
There’s still time for you to apply to be part of a DPSCD Examination High School like Justin was. The round two application window has been extended until Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. This deadline is firm and will be the final opportunity to apply for admission to one of the six DPSCD Exam High schools for fall 2021.
