DPSCD School Spotlight of the Week: Vernor Elementary-Middle School serves Pre-K through 8th grade students in Southwest Detroit, offering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment with programs in visual and performing arts, STEM, bilingual support, character development, and social-emotional learning. Families are encouraged to enroll today and join a community where students are nurtured, challenged, and inspired to thrive.

DPSCD Student Spotlight of the Week: Jordan Bell, a rising public health professional, is a proud alumna of Detroit Public Schools Community District’s (DPSCD) Marcus Garvey Academy and Cass Technical High School, Class of 2021. Summer on the Block: DPSCD Families, join the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team Thursday, July 24, 2025, for Summer on the Block. There are two locations and times to fit your schedule: Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School, 3200 E. Lafayette, Detroit, MI 48207, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or Maybury Elementary School, 4410 Porter Street, Detroit, MI 48234, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. There will be free food, giveaways, fun activities for the children as well as resources and enrollment support for families. Summer School Report Cards: Report Cards will be distributed on Friday, July 25, 2025, for recovery students and can be viewed in the web version of the PowerSchool Public Portal. In addition to grades and report cards, the Public Portal allows you to see your student’s attendance and scheduling information. If you need assistance with accessing the Parent Portal, please reach out to your school.

Connect with ESE During Parent Office Hours: The Office of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) team invites families to join upcoming Parent Office Hours—an opportunity to engage directly with District staff, ask questions, and receive support.
