Michigan Public Health Week Partnership has chosen Drew’s Teacher Michael Craig to receive the Hometown Health Hero award for 2020. This award recognizes individuals and organizations across the state working tirelessly to maintain and improve the health of their local communities. The Hometown Health Hero award is a major part of Public Health Week in Michigan. This year marks the sixteenth year the Hometown Health Hero award has been presented.
The Partnership received thirty-three nominations from across the state and chose to award Mr. Craig for his accomplishments and dedication to his community’s health and well-being. In particular, the Partnership is impressed with his work with special needs students and his participation in the daily work in the Drew Horticulture Program that demonstrates gains in mental health, physical health, and social and emotional health for his students.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Partnership cannot hold its usual award event at the State Capitol. Therefore, the Partnership will be mailing his plaque.
We would like to thank Mr. Craig for all that he does to improve the health of the community and congratulate him on receiving this honor!
