Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year, September 15th through October 15th, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Students at Clippert recognized this month through a variety of learning activities.
In the fifth grade students designed and drew their own alebrijes. Alebrijes are a form of Mexican folk art that feature colorful, creative mythical creatures. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders learned about well-known hispanic people through history. Groups from each grade chose a person, historical event, or another important part of Hispanic culture and created a project based on this topic. Students in Ms.McCoin's ESL class made clay calaveras -or skulls- that are a traditional part of the Dia de los Muertos celebration.
Projects were hung up in the hallway creating a Hispanic Cultural Walk that students and Clippert visitors are now able to enjoy!
