Okay2Say Teaching Proper Internet Safety to the Youth

Students recently had the opportunity to learn about online safety and available support resources during a visit from retired Michigan State Police Trooper Walter Crider. As a representative of the state's OK2SAY program, Crider engaged with students to discuss the importance of responsible internet use and how to seek help when needed.(wwcsd.net)

OK2SAY is Michigan's student safety initiative that allows individuals to confidentially report tips about potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, or schools. The program operates 24/7 and accepts reports through various channels, including phone calls, text messages, emails, and a mobile app .(Michigan.gov)

During his presentation, Crider emphasized the significance of speaking up when encountering concerning behavior online or in person. He provided students with practical advice on maintaining their digital well-being and highlighted the various ways OK2SAY can be utilized to report issues such as bullying, cyberbullying, and threats to school safety.(lakeviewschools.net, wwcsd.net)
