New Beginnings: Class of 2025 Shines at Music Hall Graduation Ceremony
Detroit, MI — May 30, 2025 — The historic Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts was filled with pride, excitement, and celebration as the Class of 2025 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. Family, friends, faculty, and community members gathered for the unforgettable ceremony that honored the achievements and perseverance of this exceptional group of students.
The graduation was marked by inspiring speeches, heartfelt moments, and a reflection on a journey shaped by growth, resilience, and unity. Serving as keynote speaker was none other than Detroit Fire Department Chief James Harris, whose powerful words encouraged graduates to remain courageous, lead with integrity, and give back to the communities that raised them.
“You are the future of this city, and I see greatness in every single one of you,” said Chief Harris. “Never forget where you came from, and never stop reaching for where you’re going.”
This year, the Class of 2025 proudly featured two valedictorians: Cartier Williams and Zachary Bokach, both of whom delivered eloquent speeches reflecting on their high school journeys, personal growth, and hopes for the future. Their speeches were met with standing ovations, highlighting their leadership and academic excellence.
Also honored was Maressa Rich, the Class of 2025’s salutatorian, whose address centered on gratitude, resilience, and the strength of unity among her peers. She spoke passionately about overcoming challenges together and encouraged her classmates to continue to support one another in life beyond high school.
Adding to the momentous occasion, the graduating class earned a combined total of over $5 million in scholarships and grants, a testament to their hard work, determination, and the unwavering support of educators and families.
