Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
Expanded Options to Help You Enroll for the 2021-2022 School Year! The District has expanded its options to help you enroll your student! Please visit detroitk12.org/enroll for information on our convenient Drop Boxes (more have been added at participating Meijer’s stores in the City of Detroit as well as University Foods). In addition, save the date of August 9th for the opening of the Pop-Up Enrollment Centers. We are excited to see you on the first day of school, Tues. September 7, 2021!
Vaccines This Week for Students and Families! In conjunction with several partners, DPSCD has multiple ways for you and your family to get your COVID-19 vaccinations:
- 8-2-21In partnership with Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities, DPSCD is staging a “Sensory Friendly” vaccination event for ESE students at Charles Drew, from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Pre-registration and other details can be found here.
- 8-3-21 Also in partnership with HFHS, the community can get the first dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine between9 a.m.-4 p.m. at DPSCD’s Bow Elementary-Middle School. Save the date for a second dose clinic, also at Bow, on Aug. 24th. The FDA has authorized the vaccine for emergency use for those ages 12+ years. Patients under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive both Pfizer vaccine doses.
- Vaccinations at DPSCD Hubs This Summer: In partnership with the Detroit Health Department (DHD), the District is providing COVID-19 vaccinations at its three Technology and Family Resources Hubs. The clinics are available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For dates, locations, and other vital information, please visit https://bit.ly/3xNXJwx.
DPSCD Parent Academy Summer Sessions This Week-K-8 Science, STEM and Computer Science: Join us and learn about the fantastic K-8 opportunities that your student(s) can participate in such as Chess, Robotics, Academic Games, Invention Convention, and multiple Computer Science opportunities. Stay Connected Through the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program! Do you need broadband support for you DPSCD Connected Future’s digital device? In conjunction with Connect 313, eligible households can save up to $50 per month on internet service. The EBB program also includes a one-time discount of up to $100 if you are in the market for a new digital device. Save the Date for the Annual Back to School Expo on Sat. Aug 28 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.! Meet and greet school staff, explore school programs, and enjoy a festive atmosphere complete with food and family fun as you prepare to return to school on September 7. The Back-to-School Expo will be held at three convenient locations: East English Village Preparatory Academy, Western International High School and Randolph Career Tech Center.
