8th Graders Attend MFG Day!

MFG Day, celebrated annually on the first Friday in October, is a vital national initiative aimed at reshaping the perception of manufacturing careers. This grassroots movement encourages thousands of companies and educational institutions across the United States to open their doors to students, parents, educators, and community leaders, providing them with firsthand insights into the dynamic world of modern manufacturing.

Organized by the Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers, MFG Day serves multiple purposes. It highlights the innovative technologies and processes that define today’s manufacturing environment and addresses the skills gap that many industries face. By engaging the community, MFG Day fosters interest in manufacturing careers, showcasing the rewarding opportunities available in fields like engineering, robotics, and logistics.

This year, students from John R. King’s 8th grade class attended MFG Day events, gaining valuable exposure to the manufacturing sector. Their participation included factory tours and interactive workshops, where they learned about the latest technologies and the various career paths available in the industry. These experiences not only inspired the students but also emphasized the importance of building a skilled workforce for the future.

Throughout October and beyond, various events continue, creating a platform for collaboration between manufacturers, educational institutions, and local communities. By promoting the benefits of a career in manufacturing, MFG Day helps dispel outdated stereotypes and highlights the sector's role in driving economic growth and innovation. This initiative supports local economies and ensures that future generations, like those from John R. King, have access to fulfilling and sustainable career paths in a rapidly evolving industry.
