A Brownfield Cleanup Grant is a program that helps communities clean up and improve areas that are not being used to their full potential. This grant focuses on making spaces around schools, like Priest Elementary Middle School, better for students, families, and the neighborhood.

What is a Brownfield Cleanup?

Some areas in cities are not used because they need improvement or care. These might be old lots or areas that haven’t been developed for a long time. A Brownfield Cleanup Grant helps to fix up these areas so they can be turned into parks, playgrounds, or other useful spaces for the community.

How Will This Benefit Priest Elementary Middle School?

  • More Outdoor Spaces: The cleaned-up areas can be turned into new parks, playgrounds, or fields where students can play, exercise, or enjoy the outdoors during school breaks and after school.
  • Better Recreational Facilities: The project could create new basketball courts, soccer fields, or picnic areas for students and families to use.
  •  Community Engagement: Students and families can get involved in creating these new spaces. This could include planting trees, building playgrounds, or helping with community gardens.
  • Improved Surroundings: The neighborhood around the school will look and feel better with new green spaces and places for families to gather. It will create a more inviting environment for everyone who lives nearby.

How Can Students and Families Participate?

  • Help Plan the New Spaces: You can join in discussions about what the community needs. Would students like more playgrounds, sports areas, or gardens? Your voice matters!
  • Take Part in the Transformation: When the cleanup and improvements start, there may be opportunities for families to volunteer and help build or design the new areas.
  • Enjoy the New Facilities: Once the project is complete, students will have more outdoor spaces to play and spend time, and families will have more recreational areas close to the school.

This grant will help make the area around Priest Elementary Middle School a better, greener, and more fun place for students and the entire community!
