Our district has adopted the Calm Classroom program to help cultivate peaceful and engaging environments throughout the district. This program consists of 3-minute daily practices involving breathing, stretching, and relaxation techniques to support the mental and emotional growth of students and teachers. The mission of Calm Classroom is to empower students and educators with mindfulness skills that support their overall emotional wellbeing. The program centers around three key principles.
- Learn how our thoughts and feelings influence our behavior so we can make conscious choices.
- Learn how to focus our attention and mental thoughts on what is important.
- Learn how to manage and self-regulate our feelings in order to stay calm.
