                  Welcome Back from Principal Solomon

                  Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back to what promises to be a productive, progressive, and safe year for our Cody community! A new school year is an opportunity to approach our collective work with intention and continuous improvements.  You are the most important influence in your child’s life.  Therefore, we need you to play a key role in the on-going positive transformation of our school.  Your partnership, feedback, ideas, solutions, expectations, and active participation on this educational journey will help us become the change you wish to see in the school and the community. We owe it to our students and the future of our community to work collaboratively, to be solution-oriented, to be accountable to each other, to control our narrative by amplifying the good, to get involved and commit to doing the work that’s needed to cultivate a safe, orderly, healthy, caring, and positive environment for learning to THRIVE and to yield high results. As the building principal of Detroit Frank Cody High School, I invite you to partner with us on a collaborative journey to serve the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.  They are our most prized possession and the world’s most valuable resource.  Therefore, let’s work together to give them our very best.

It is our earnest desire, responsibility, and fundamental purpose to create conditions for learning to occur.  Therefore, all that we do will have a direct impact on teaching and learning.  It is our belief that all students can learn at high levels if provided with authentic caring relationships with adults, a safe positive and supportive learning environment, high quality instruction, and timely interventions or enrichment to enhance the learning experience.  Because of our beliefs, we have committed ourselves to working collaboratively with you to ensure that all students will receive systematic individual supports, skills, competencies, and tools to ensure their success.  We also need you to please join us for all school events, parent-teacher conferences, to monitor student progress online through PowerSchool, to get involved in school partnerships, to build healthy and collaborative relationships with our staff, and to pour positive communications into our community about our school/district because this represents us and the diplomas that our students will earn.

On behalf of the entire Cody Comet staff, we thank you for entrusting us with your child and we look forward to working in collaboration with you to ensure that every Cody Comet is proficient and/or prepared for their college and career aspirations.

We are prepared to joyously embark upon a new school year as your partner in education ready to serve the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of our amazing teenagers who are transitioning into adulthood.

                  Onward & Upward,
