Career Day
Edison Elementary's Career Day event provides scholars with an opportunity to meet professionals within and around our Edison community. Small and large business partners visit our school and share information about their profession, worklife, education, hands-on training and what it takes to be successful.

Guest readers come into each classroom and read their favorite story to the class.

Expect Respect Student of the Month
One student per class is selected for demonstrating the expect respect trait of the month. The traits are as follows: Responsibility, Respect, Kindness, Generosity, Citizenship, Self-Control, Honesty, Compassion, Cooperation, and Acceptance

Field Trips
Grade level field trips allow students to experience the world and grow from these experiences. Students have attended the following field trips: Detroit Science Center, Ann Arbor Hand's on Museum, GreenField Village, Detroit Zoo, Belle Isle, etc.

Student of the Month
One Edison Scholar from each homeroom is recognized for having exhibited the character trait of the month.

Scholar Friday Fun Day
Selected Edison Scholars are awarded on Fridays with fun activities for attendance, character trait, positive behavior and academic achievements.

Girl Scouts
Our Edison Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls, with proven results. It is based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead—in their own lives and in the world. Girl Scouts is a place where our female scholars will practice different skills, explore their potential, and take on leadership positions.

Spelling Bee
Edison Scholars actively participate in our annual classroom and grade level spelling bees. The winners of the grade level school competition goes on to compete in the Detroit Public Schools Community District Spelling Bee.

Math Bee
Edison Scholars actively participate in our annual classroom and grade level Math Bee. The winners of the grade level school competition goes on to compete in the Detroit Public Schools Community District Math Bee.

School Garden
Our school gardening program trains and educates our Edison Scholars how to grow and sustain a garden.Scholars have an opportunity to eat what they grow! Our school gardening is an excellent tool for experimental learning and nutrition education.

Curriculum Night
Parents are shown and given math and reading materials, lessons, experiments, and activities to do with their Edison Scholars at home.

After School Tutoring
After school tutoring is provided to Edison Scholars and is designed to close the achievement gap identified by classroom teachers
