Elonka Kenyatta
Mrs. Elonka Kenyatta’s educational leadership journey began at Skyline High School in the Child Care Cluster. After graduation, Mrs. Kenyatta attended Stephen F. Austin State University and received her bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies. From there, she moved back to her home city of Dallas, TX where she started her career as an elementary teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. Her relocation to Detroit in 2018 led her to join the DPSCD, where she swiftly made an impact as the 3rd grade ELA Master Teacher at Fisher Magnet Lower Academy.
Her expertise in literacy and ability to inspire educators led to her transition into the role of Literacy Coach on Special Assignment the following year. Mrs. Kenyatta's dedication to professional development and teacher support further propelled her career when she became a Training & Support Coordinator within the Literacy Intervention Team in December 2021. After receiving her master’s degree in educational leadership at Wayne State University, Mrs. Kenyatta returned to Fisher Magnet Academy and served as the Assistant Principal from 2022-2025. Now, is the proud principal of THE Catherine C. Blackwell for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year!
Mrs. Kenyatta is elated to join the Blackwell Family and looks forward to a successful second semester built on strong relationships, high expectations, and collaboration.
