Ms. Regina Cosey
Regina Cosey had many interests, from business to art while attending high school, but it was the graphics and printing curriculum at Cass Technical High School that would set her on a career path like no other. After graduation, Ms. Cosey continued her studies at Macomb Community College, earning an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Graphics and Printing. While working for several commercial and financial printing companies, Ms. Cosey obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Although she majored in Industrial Vocational Education, her first thought was to continue her work in print sales. She loved her job and had established a clientele list with many companies and organizations throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area. An extensive knowledge in graphics and printing accompanied with a Bachelor’s Degree made her a teaching candidate for the Detroit Public Schools.
Immediately following graduation from Eastern Michigan University, Regina Cosey agreed to sign on with Detroit Public Schools and make a career change that proved to be a very rewarding experience. In her career as an educator, Ms. Cosey worked at Murray-Wright High School as a graphic and printing instructor. During her tenure there she was instrumental in revamping and expanding the graphics and printing program. While building that program she earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University.
After many years, Ms. Cosey transitioned from the comprehensive high school to Crockett Career and Technical Center and later to Breithaupt Career and Technical Center. During her tenure in education Ms. Cosey has been a long time member of Skills USA as a coach and past president, a double nominee of “Outstanding Educator Award” and “Who’s Who” Award. She attributes her success to the positive work ethic of her parents and uncle, Anthony McCauley, a retired CTE administrator. Her father, Robert Cosey, retired from General Motors and mother Mary Cosey retired from Detroit Public Schools.
Always an educator, Ms. Cosey has had opportunities that would allow her continue her craft with Farmington Public Schools, Wayne County Community College as an academic advisor and Michigan Department of Corrections. While working with the State of Michigan, she coordinated a re-entry program for returning citizens from Jackson Prison. In 2016, she would return to Detroit Public Schools at Golightly Career Technical Center and was promoted to her current position as Assistant Principal at Breithaupt Career and Technical Center.
Ms. Cosey is committed and dedicated to the academic success of our students. Along with the academic enhancement she hopes to enlighten students who want to pursue a skilled trade. She believes that having a vision of success and a technical skill accompanied by a post-secondary education can only help to jump start their path to a bright future.
