• All About Coleman A. Young Elementary School - 15771 Hubbell Ave., Detroit, MI 48227

Coleman A. Young Elementary School serves students in Pre-K through 5th grade and is home to a thriving professional learning community with an enrollment of nearly 500 students. Our dedicated team of highly qualified educators is committed to supporting the whole child: academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Through a wide range of intervention programs, we ensure that each student receives the individualized support they need to thrive.

At the heart of our positive school culture is our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, which promotes positive choices and recognizes student success. We also have an active Fun Committee that leads engaging events throughout the year, such as attendance challenges, holiday celebrations, and our Sneaker Ball. These initiatives help foster a joyful, respectful, and community-oriented environment.

Our rigorous curriculum is enriched by strong partnerships with respected community and university organizations, including Wayne State University’s TeachDETROIT program, the Metropolitan Church of God, and the National Council of Jewish Women. These collaborations provide students with valuable mentoring, tutoring, and enrichment opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

With nearly 500 young minds in our care, we place a strong emphasis on emotional wellness, believing that students' mental and emotional health is essential to their overall success.
