  • Ms. Desiree Merriweather

    Desiree Merriweather is a Detroit native and a product of Detroit Public Schools Community District (Renaissance High School, Class of 2008). Ms. Merriweather attended Clark Atlanta University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Studies and later attended University of the District of Columbia, receiving her Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2020. Ms. Merriweather is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction and Master of Arts in Counseling. Spanning more than a decade, Ms. Merriweather has taught in Detroit Public Schools Community District, Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland), and Cumberland County Schools (North Carolina). As of the 2025-2026 academic year, Ms. Merriweather has transitioned from band director to school counselor at Frederick Douglass Academy, proudly serving the young men through their high school matriculation and postsecondary endeavors.
