Mrs. Tammy Mitchell

Tammy Mitchell joined A.L. Holmes Academy of Blended Learning in 2012 as the assistant principal. In 2015, she became principal of A.L. Holmes. Her career in education began at Campbell Elementary, where she taught 2nd grade for many years. Before joining the education field, Mrs. Mitchell worked for 6 years in the banking industry.

Mrs. Mitchell grew up in Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools, where she graduated from Southeastern High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in Elementary Education with a specialization in mathematics. However, Mrs. Mitchell grew to have a passion for literacy and teaching children to read. Mrs. Mitchell earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University in 2009.

Mrs. Mitchell views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with students, parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at A.L. Holmes Academy of Blended Learning.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue reaching, teaching, and impacting the lives of the students at A.L. Holmes,” Mrs. Mitchell said. “My heart for education involves providing a safe, exciting, student focused learning environment for all students. My commitment to building positive, caring relationships and leading by example will be my driving force while impacting lives with Eagles Pride!”

Mrs. Mitchell is married and has a daughter in college.
