2021 Examination High School Petitions
Students who applied to an examination high school and took the exam, but did not receive their desired placement may petition for admission consideration. Formerly called appeals, the petition process allows students to apply for reconsideration of their school assignment or denial of admission.
Applicants may submit one petition to seek admission for up to five schools, which the applicant must rank in order of desire to attend. Each ranked school will review the admission and decide whether to admit the student. The school’s decision is final. If they are accepted, students will receive one placement in the highest-ranked school that offers them admission.
Petition deadlines are strictly followed. For fall 2021 admission, the key petition dates are:
- Petition Window Opens: 6 p.m. Friday January 15
- Petition Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Monday February 15
- Decisions: 6 p.m. Friday March 6
- Petition Window Opens: 6 p.m. Friday July 30
- Petition Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Sunday August 8
- Decisions: 6 p.m. Wednesday August 18

Phone and Video Petition Support
We invite families to make a 30-minute appointment to receive one-on-one assistance with the petition process.
Trained support team members will be available via phone or Microsoft Teams video conference.
Sessions will begin on Tuesday January 26 and continue through February 15.
Tuesdays: 5-7 p.m.
Fridays: 7-9 a.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Monday February 15: 5 –7 p.m.
