The information on this page describes the assessments that students take at each grade level. If you have additional questions that are not included here, please contact your school’s principal.

i-Ready | The i-Ready diagnostic assessment is a universal screener tool that is closely aligned to grade-level expectations. WIDA | The WIDA ACCESS for ELLs (English Language Learners) suite of assessments are given annually in Michigan to monitor students’ progress in acquiring academic English, and include Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs, ACCESS for ELLs online and paper-based, and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs. | K-12 for students identified as English Language Learners | Feb - March |
M-Step | The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP, is a 21st Century computer-based assessment designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards. | 3rd – 8th grades plus 11th grade | April - May |
MI Access | MI-Access is Michigan's alternate assessment system and is designed for students who have, or function as if they have, significant cognitive impairments, and whose IEP (Individualized Education Program) Team has determined that General Assessments, even with accommodations, are not appropriate. | 3rd – 8th grades plus 11th grade | April - May |
College Board (PSAT, SAT) | The College Board assessments (PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and SAT) measure student progress towards the College and Career Readiness Standards. | 8th – 11th grade | April |
Science and Social Studies Benchmarks | The Science and Social Studies District Benchmarks measure student progress towards mastery of science and social studies standards. They help to predict whether students will be proficient on the M-STEP end of year assessments. | 5th, 8th and 11th grade | Fall: September Winter: December Spring: May - June |
