- NAEP Assessment
-
We are excited to announce DPSCD students’ participation in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) from January to March 2024. NAEP is also referred to as the Nation’s Report Card. DPSCD is one of 27 school districts across the nation designated to participate in the Trial Urban District Assessment (TUDA) program, which measures performance on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. The TUDA data allows for comparisons among participating districts and analysis of trends for districts that have participated over time. When students take the NAEP, it is an opportunity for them to represent DPSCD on a national level!
Here are some quick facts about NAEP:
- Students will be assessed in math, reading, or science.
- Not every student or every school takes the test. Schools and students in grades 4, 8, and 12 are randomly selected to participate.
- The results are anonymous and will not affect your child’s grades.
- Accommodations and support are provided so that as many students as possible can participate.
- School and student results are not available, district results are published based on the schedule of the NAEP, not by the participating district.
What can you and your student do next if your student is selected to take the NAEP assessment?
- Utilize NAEP online resources to practice sample questions and become more familiar with the assessment.
- Every school day matters. We are encouraging students who are selected to be sure to attend school on assessment day.
Beyond being an assessment, NAEP is an opportunity for our DPSCD to showcase growth within our educational community. Your child's participation is a valuable contribution to Outstanding Achievement in the District and national conversation on educational progress.
