    General Precautions

    • Keep all liquids away from the laptop. Never eat or drink while using the laptop.
    • The laptop should not be placed on or under soft items, such as blankets, pillows, or sofa cushions. This may cause the laptop to overheat and result in physical damage to the machine.
    • Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the device to prevent damage.
    • The laptop and case must remain free of any writing, drawings, stickers, or labels that are not the property of DPSCD.
    • The laptop must never be left unsupervised.
    • Carry the laptop with two hands when traveling between classes.
    • Use your backpack when traveling back and forth from school to home.

    Screen Care

    • To avoid damaging the screen, only the power supply and cord should accompany the laptop inside the sleeve.
    • Never close the laptop with anything on the keyboard, such as pencils or notebooks.
    • Avoid touching the laptop screen. If you need your screen cleaned, please use a clean, soft cloth. No cleansers of any kind.

    Protecting and Storing Your Laptop

    • Protect the laptop from extreme heat and cold.
    • Laptops should never be left in a car.
    • If the laptop has been in extremely cold or hot temperatures, let it get to room temperature before turning it on.
    • When the laptop is not in use, please store it in a secure location.
    • Heavy objects should never be placed or stacked on the laptop. This includes books, musical instruments, etc.

    Warranty and Accidental Protection Plan

All 3rd-8th grade student laptops will come with a warranty and accidental protection plan, as we know accidents may occur. Each laptop will also come with a one-time use accidental protection plan to replace damaged devices as needed. The plan covers various damage, including but not limited to broken screens, defective speakers, or bad batteries. Once a student has used up their one-time total accidental protection, students will be issued an older model device to use in school, but this device will not be able to leave the building to go home with the student.
