All City Concerts and Showcases
History of Achievement in the Arts
For numerous years, the all-city performances organized by DPSCD have provided a platform for schools citywide to unite. These events bring students together, showcasing their exceptional artistic talents. Annually, a total of six all-city events are held. Read on to discover more about each of these showcases.

All City Marching Band Ensemble
Representing the best of the high school marching bands, the DPSCD All City Marching Band concludes their season with a spectacular ensemble at America's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This ensemble rehearses for three months to prepare for this monumental televised event!

All City Theatre Showcase
At this event, student artists perform published and newly created works, ranging from drama and comedy to musical theatre! This showcase featured monologues, scenes, and full productions. Selected works are performed in an evening performance for a general audience.

All City Visual Arts Exhibition
This student art exhibition boasts presentations from a wide range of art categories, including digital media. A highlight of this showcase is a live artists’ talk-back where select high school juniors and seniors discuss their works. This juried exhibition is open to all K–12 students with a maximum of 10 pieces submitted per program.

All City Vocal Music ConcertComposed of student vocal music ensembles from across the District, this adjudicated concert features selections from various music genres from pop to classical. The concert receives performance submissions from K–12th grade and is open for the public to enjoy!

All City Dance Concert
This children's themed adjudicated event is open to all DPSCD dance programs. The concert features performances of children’s themed music for younger audiences. Selected groups perform in both a matinée (at 10:30 a.m. with a student audience) and a 6:30 p.m. concert open to the public.
Also, upcoming is the general All City Dance Concert. Here, selected groups perform in a matinée concert (at 10:00 a.m.) and a 7:00 p.m. concert open to the public.

All City Instrumental Music Concert
This is a teacher adjudicated event open to all DPSCD instrumental music bands. The concert features a wide variety of musical genres and performances from more middle schools than in previous years, which is amazing to see. In previous years, students have even run tech for this event! Don't miss the next instrumental music concert at Detroit School of Arts - Ford site on Thursday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m.
